Disc 6: Understanding Digital Lenses
Disc 6 of the Jumpstart training series is designed to provide front office staff with a “hands-on” interactive training experience. Disc 6 will provide in depth information on digital lens technology and how it differs from conventional lens processing. Training will include a basic understanding of digital lenses including designs, processing, pricing and dispensing.
What is a Digital Lens
Never before has there been such confusion about the overall differences of what comprises a digital lens. This module will illustrate the features that make a lens digital versus conventional progressive lenses.
Conventional vs. Digital
There are significant differences between the conventional versus digital surfacing processes. This module will outline step-by-step the differences, and how they lead to a product offering better optics.
Digital Lens Designs
A premium digital progressive lens is about more than simply how it is processed. Any good lens must start with a good design. This module will illustrate how different lens designs can effect the way a patient will see through their digital lenses.
Patient Benefits
Why should an ECP recommend digital lenses over conventional progressive lenses? This module will outline all the benefits a patient will experience from digital lenses and who the ideal candidates are to benefit the most.
Prescribing Digital Lenses
As with any new product, there is not only a learning curve for the patient, but also the ECP. This module will describe the processes necessary to prescribe digital lenses to patients and train on how to take any additional measurements that may be required for processing.
Pricing Digital Lenses
One of the greatest fears of recommending digital lenses is that a patient will not be willing to pay more. This module will assist eye care professionals with pricing this new lens product in a way that it will appeal to patients and sell well.
Recommending the Product
Once the office has a full understanding of digital lens products and priced them accordingly, they must feel confident recommending them to patients. This module will outline presentation techniques that will make recommending digital lenses easier and more effective in selling.
